Covington 24" saw

This is a large 24"covington saw. It weighs in at about 350 lbs empty of oil. It's a bit heavier than the homemade version. It has variable speed pullies and an auto cutoff switch.

24" Homemade Saw

This is a 24" saw I have for cutting the bigger stones down into cubes for spheres or slabs. This saw uses a recirculating pump to force oil from below up onto the blade. The holding tank is chambered so the sediment can be cleaned. The blade is almost new on this saw. It is sitting next to the Covington 24" saw.

There was a hydralic feed/return
on the carriage sometime in the past but it is not hooked up. That is what those gauges are for you see in this picture to the right. The vise is very much like the one you see on the covington saw only a bit bigger. There is a hinge mounted on the vice to help stablize the bigger rocks.
